Why we need Government Run Health Care NOW!

I don't care if you are Democrat, Republican or you just don't give a damn about politics, but I strongly support a Government Run Health Care System. Taxes pay for everything else we depend upon, why not use it to pay for Healthcare too?

If you are fortunate enough to have a job and have Health Care coverage, kudos to you! But if you are one of the millions of unemployed Americans such as myself ( I lost my job last October and for the first time in over 20 years I haven't found a job and have no insurance ) why should I be denied the right to live if I get seriously ill?

I paid into a Health Plan for years and years and never needed it. As luck would have it, I suffered a minor Heart Attack 5 months after losing my job and my Health Insurance. So, now I have to hope and pray that I don't get sick again...

Watch the following video, it makes total sense to me....

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard

People, if you like to laugh and don't mind a little raunchy humor then I highly recommend you go out and see this movie.

I walked into it ten minutes late (damn concession stand anyway) and was immediately laughing from this movie. It was the perfect way to end a very hard, stressful and unproductive (in my opinion) week.

My favorite parts were of course played by Will Farrell, but suffice it to say that every actor/actress in this movie contributed to the stitch in my side....def a movie that I want to go see again!

Two Thumbs up from me for all thats worth.

Show some Gratitude

Hey all, this is a little off the subject.... I received this video in an email today, and it made me reflect on how lucky we all are to be able to do what we want and be free doing it. Regardless of your political views, keep in mind that the young men and women in our Armed Forces did make a choice to join the military, but often don't have a voice in where they may be sent.... so, I think it is important for all of us to show our Gratitude to the Men and Women who haven given their lives for all of us. Food for thought. God Bless... and please watch the video...

WoW, I can tell I'm spoiled...

I felt so inconvenienced tonight. I needed to go to the grocery store, but didn't feel like going to WalMart and waiting forever to get checked out.... I didn't feel like driving to the Albertson's which is farther nor did I feel like going to Food4Less, even though they are cheaper but have kind of a limited selection.

So, I decided to stop at Von's, which I haven't done in awhile with good reason. For months, they have been trimming there inventory back. They didn't have what I was used to buying there; ie: they would have Grape Jelly but not Strawberry Jelly as an example. In the back of my mind I was telling myself, "these guys may as well just shut down, they don't have what I want anyway"!

I wanted to make a quick trip to the grocery store tonight, so I stopped at Von's. Well damn, there is a sign on the window that says, "Von's last day open will be July 11th". Here I sit, reading the sign--my mouth hanging open, lately thinking they may as well shut down because they never have what I want and yet dumbfounded that they had to close.... now I have to drive to Albertson's which is 3 or 4 miles back in the opposite direction. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

In my time of need, they were gone, a convenience that I used to take advantage of back in the day, but now it was gone; the second in less than a year in my area. And yet, I complain, get upset because I have to drive a few miles in the opposite direction to shop at Albertson's which I love, but is kind of pricey. How I have forgotten that we used make a trip of 40 miles once a week just to go to the nearest grocery store when I was growing up, and they weren't even half the store that Von's was. Yep, I must be damn spoiled.... LOL

I am sorry to see that Von's had to close, as well as the Lucky's about a year ago, presumably for lack of sales. I still don't understand why Lucky's closed, I thought it was a great store and always seemed busy when I shopped there. Von's on the other hand, seemed like it had lost touch with the customers and the needs of those customers. I believe they were too quick to eliminate inventory for slow sales, again if you are gonna sell Grape Jelly you have to sell Strawberry Jelly too.... and in more and more areas on the shelves of Von's, this started to be the norm, which is why I eventually stopped shopping there.

But hey, it is just my opinion, but MmmmHmmmm, they ARE closed now.

Have a great day, and thanks for readin!

Self Checkouts -- Do they work???

So, it has been awhile since I have posted a blog, but I have been busy trying to make a buck. I guess that you could say today's post is not so much of a blog but a bitch session... haha.

I happen to use the self checkout lanes whenever possible. I regularly shop at Wal-Mart, Albertson’s, Smith’s, Home Depot, etc. I think the concept is absolutely awesome and for those of us who only need one or two items, they save time. As more of the larger chains cut back on expenses, such as manpower, they also help control labor costs.

One of my biggest complaints however is this, ( and pay attention here Albertson’s and Home Depot ) that the majority of people, unless directed to a certain register via a regular lane, such as the type that Wal-Mart uses, ( kudos to Wal-Mart ) do not have the decency to recognize the fact that Joe Homeowner had already been waiting patiently in line for a register only to be rudely cut in front of by someone that is just walking up to them. Not being one to give in to the rudeness of other people, I have reclaimed my rights at an open register more than once and it has led to some harsh words and close to an altercation on more than one occasion. But right is right, right?

What is wrong with people today? Where is the common sense that is built into each and every one of us that would stop you and say hey, “this poor person has been waiting here since I walked up, he should be the next one to an open register, not me.” Is it just me, or has the world gone totally crazy and grown that insensitive to their fellow man?

The “Bullpen” type of system that Albertson’s and Home Depot use could be improved 100% with the addition of a line on the floor accompanied by a sign that reads, “please wait here for the next available register.” I almost always try to stand in the center when I am waiting, fairness and courtesy would rule that I should be the next person to use the very next available register, right?? Since it seems that people cannot be courteous on their own and don’t have the common sense to do the RIGHT thing, they need to be directed like sheep by the use of a visual aid like a sign and a line on the floor posted at the head of the bullpen.

One of my second biggest complaints is that if you are going to use these self checkouts and we are saving the management all of this labor by operating 4 or more self checkouts with one cashier, then maybe a 2-3% discount would be a nice incentive to use the self checkout. Maybe I would continue to use them now despite the fact that I am dealing with a person’s rudeness once in awhile, but no thanks… I am gonna go right back to waiting in a regular checkout line from now on. Maybe Albertson’s and Home Depot could use the money they are saving to follow my suggestion above. But hey, who am I, right? Just my two cents on what I think is a bad problem, one that wouldn’t even have to be addressed if people had a little bit of a conscience.

Want an alternative to cigarettes??

Are you tired of cigarettes?? Of not being able to smoke where you want to smoke? If you had access to an alternative like the eSmoke and it would help you kick the habit, would you try it??

I'm not a smoker, and i can tell you that I don't really enjoy being around it, but I understand what it is like for those of you who do smoke.

A really good friend of mine is trying this eSmoke cigarette and he loves it. He has smoked all of his life and was just ready to quit. We work together every day, and you know, he can take his puffs on the eSmoke cigarette and I don't even notice it now.... and he loves the fact that he doesn't have to go outside to smoke!!

If you are ready to change then click here to learn more about this smoking alternative!

The Air France Tragedy

Tragic news about the Air France flight carrying 228 souls that dissapeared while in route from Brazil to France.

Another pilot reported seeing spots of orange in the ocean believing these possibly to be fire on the route that the Air France Jet was flying.

A very sad day indeed, and if there are no survivors, this will be one of the worst aviation disasters since 2001.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of every passenger that was on Air France flight 447.

Criss Angel is amazing!!!!!

Criss Angel takes audiences on a mystifying journey through the haunting inner workings of his mind and the surreal world created by Cirque du Soleil performers in his show Believe, directed by Serge Denoncourt.

Even the name for the show has a mysterious origin that spawns from the death of famed magician Harry Houdini.

"After my death, many people will claim that they are still able to communicate with me. If their claims are valid, they will be able to tell you a code word - that word is believe," said Houdini to his wife before he died.

The show starts with a video montage of Angel’s death defying stunts from his hit television show “Mindfreak.” After the video and the “Mindfreak” theme song have stopped playing, Angel appears to greet the crowd.

“I have the best loyal fans in the world, and I thank you,” shouts Angel as members of his devoted fan based branded “The Loyal” rise to their feet and cheer.

Angel explains that he is going to perform one of his most dangerous stunts where he goes inside of a metal cage with six million volts of electricity. The illusion goes awry and Angel is rushed off for medical treatment. Live footage of him being wheeled away in a stretcher plays on a screen hanging over the stage.

This event sets the premise for the rest of the show as the audience is taken on a curious journey through Angel’s mind after experiencing a traumatic injury.

His first thoughts are of honoring magicians’ rabbits that have died during their time of duty. Dancers in varied and ornate rabbit costumes file onto the stage and perform a riveting dance. From there the journey is full of twists, turns and a cast of strange characters. Some of the characters and scenes are whimsical while others have a macabre tone.

Angel’s illusions are interwoven into the different scenes. He does several disappearing and reappearing acts, so you never know where he is going to turn up next or in what form.
On his journey he meets two women, Kayala and Crimson who reappear throughout the show. Each of the women represents a different side of femininity as they compete for Angel’s affection. Kayala is sweet, soft and innocent while Crimson is a wild vixen who will do anything to win over Angel’s heart.

One of the stunning scenes in the show is of a field filled with red poppies that gradually fill the stage. It is reminiscent of the scene from “The Wizard of Oz” when Dorothy and her friends find themselves lost in a field of the brightly colored flowers.

Instead of having a fluid story line like some of the other Cirque du Soleil shows, the different scenes seem to come randomly, much like that of a dream. If you try to analyze how the scenes fit together while watching the show, your effort will be to no avail. Instead it is better to understand that various characters and scenes can pop-up arbitrarily, so you can focus on the cutting edge choreography by Wade Robson and innovative costumes by Mérédith Caron.

This show is a unique combination of two distinct art forms, Criss Angel’s clearly carved out persona as a magician and Cirque du Soleil. The different elements create an avant-garde dose of entertainment that you need to see to Believe.

Another one bites the dust...

Allison Iraheta slashed on 'Idol,' leaving 3
By DERRIK J. LANG, AP Entertainment Writer
Thu May 7, 2:57 AM PDT

"American Idol" finalist Allison Iraheta has a reason to cry.

The flame-haired 17-year-old high school student from Los Angeles, who crooned Janis Joplin's "Cry Baby" for her rock performance this week, was revealed Wednesday to have received the fewest viewer votes, leaving three singers in the popular Fox singing competition.

Iraheta seemed to take her dismissal in stride, belting out an energized "Cry Baby" reprise then razzing the last three dudes standing -- Kris Allen, Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert. Throughout the competition, judge Simon Cowell chided Iraheta for not showing off more of her personality, but she finally lashed back at the acerbic British judge on Tuesday.

"He was asking for it," she said.

Before the results were revealed, the final four were joined by this week's mentor, former Guns 'N Roses guitarist Slash, for a frantic rendition of Alice Cooper's "School's Out." Also taking the "Idol" stage -- for the first time ever! -- was judge Paula Abdul in a smokey pre-taped performance of her new single, "I'm Just Here for the Music."

Tuesday night's pre-show drama didn't seem to linger during the lead-up to Iraheta's elimination. The behemoth "Idol" logo which toppled over was back -- and glowing -- in place above the audience. And that moving staircase was also operational Wednesday after a crew member was sent to the hospital following a reported 20-foot fall from the top Tuesday.

However, Seacrest still seemed a little shaken up following all of the tumultuous tumbling, especially after No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani strutted down the steps, behind the judges' table and through the crowd while belting out "I'm Just a Girl" for an elimination episode performance. Seacrest joked she was making him nervous running around the stage.

"It's been a high-risk place this week," he said.

The finalists left in contest are Lambert, a 27-year-old theater actor from San Diego; Gokey, a 29-year-old church music director from Milwaukee; and Allen, a 23-year-old college student from Conway, Ark.

This week, the three singers will travel to their hometowns before performing two songs next week: one of their choosing, another from the show's judges.

The next "Idol" will be crowned May 20.

OJ in Hell

Sorry if it offends, but I thought it was hilarious!

One day in the future, OJ Simpson has a heart-attack and dies.

He immediately goes to hell, where the devil is waiting for him. 'I don't know what to do here,' says the devil. 'You are on my list, but I have no room for you. You definitely have to stay here, so I'll tell you what I'm going to do. I've got a couple of folks here who weren't quite as bad as
you. I'll let one of them go, but you have to take their place. I'll even let YOU decide who leaves.'

OJ thought that sounded pretty good, so the devil opened the door to the first room.

In it was Ted Kennedy and a large pool of water. Ted kept diving in, and surfacing, empty handed. Over, and over, and over he dove in and surfaced with nothing. Such was his fate in hell.

'No,' OJ said. 'I don't think so. I'm not a good swimmer, and I don't think I could do that all day long.'

The devil led him to the door of the next room.

In it was Al Gore with a sledgehammer and a room full of rocks. All he did was swing that hammer,
time after time after
time.

'No, this is no good; I've got this problem with my shoulder. I would be in constant agony if all I could do was break rocks all day,' commented OJ.

The devil opened a third door. Through it, OJ saw Bill Clinton, lying on the bed, his arms tied over his head, and his legs restrained in a spread-eagle pose. Bent over him was Monica Lewinsky, doing what she does best.
OJ looked at this in shocked disbelief, and finally said, 'Yeah man, I can handle this.' The devil smiled and said . . . . .

'OK, Monica, you're free to go'.

My explanation of why this is free unlike a lot of things.

This is how this 100% free program that pays you to click on ads remains 100% FREE always!

Read the note below and start getting your free money right away!

Here are some very interesting facts about The Bar vs. Search Engine Moguls!!

Forgive me if I go into too much detail. Currently search engines get paid on an average about $0.15-$0.20 per click of a website advertisement. These search engines make a few billion dollars a year doing this. The only problem is companies are getting tired of not having a captive and targeted audience to advertise to on the Internet.

So Boloto Group, Inc created this member based community where companies are guaranteed 10 seconds of captive audience viewing of their advertisement. They call this the Ads by ER Exchange. ER standing for Exact audience Request. Companies pay to advertise on this network, and then the network pays you for clicking on the ads.

It's a truly amazing concept and the new future of Internet marketing. The amount per click is very small especially during this pre-launch stage. If you want to make any serious money with this you have to get as many people under you as you can. It's free so that makes getting people under you pretty easy to do. As you may already know, you receive revenues from people who click on ads up to 7 Levels below you as well. The bar allows you to very easily see who has joined below you and how much money has accumulated in your account.

So, now that I have given you a little explanation, there is absolutely no reason at all not to give it a try, unless you don’t like something that really is completely free. It is stupid simple, and you won’t receive spam, spyware or any unwanted pop ups.

Carrots, eggs or coffee??

A carrot, an egg, and a cup of coffee...

You will never look at a cup of coffee the same way again.
~
A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as when one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.
~
In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what you see."
~
"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.
Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft.
The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg.
~
Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, "What does it mean, mother?"
~
Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently.
The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.
The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.
However, the ground coffee beans were unique. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.
~
"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg,or a coffee bean?"
~
Think of this: Which am I?
Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?
Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?
~
Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate yourself to another level?
How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?
~
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best~of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.
~
You might want to send this message to those people who mean something to you, to those who have touched your life in one way or another; to those who make you smile when you really need it; to those who make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down; to those whose friendship you appreciate; to those who are so meaningful in your life.
~
May we all be COFFEE!!!!!!
